GOLF SOCIETY A G M—SEPTEMBER 29TH 2015
Secretary Paul Molyneux opened the proceedings by proposing that the society should have a “ Honorary Chairman “ and proposed Terry Daly { Ex Member } to take over the role, members present agreed with Paul and Terry Daly was elected to take over as honorary chairman.
Meeting.
The chairman opened the meeting by welcoming g everyone and asking for apologies, ALL members who were not at meeting had sent their apologies.
Rule Changes.
There was one major rule change proposed which was regarding the conditions of membership, it was proposed that instead of just one level of membership, a second tier should be introduced for members who cannot commit to the conditions at present, after much discussion it was agreed that a second tier should be introduced so,
LEVEL ONE { FULL MEMBERSHIP } —Joining Fee of £10.00, Weekly Subs of £2.50, Entry into ALL competitions { Winter and Summer Leagues & Knock-outs } and including Subsidised MAJORS & CAPTAINS WEEKEND.
LEVEL TWO { SUNDAY MEMBERSHIP } Joining Fee of £10.00, Weekly Subs of £1.00, Entry into the Winter & Summer Leagues and Knockouts, Entry into the Captains Challenge and the Sunday MAJOR { Subsidised }
This proposal was carried and will take effect IMMEDIATELY.
A further discussion was held regarding the MATCHPLAY FORMAT, but it was agreed that there would be NO changes to this format.
New Members For 2015 / 2016
There was FOUR applications to join the society, they were from, Darryl Thomas & Kevin Graham
As Full Members and Gary Farnworth & Jimmy Shaw Jnr as Sunday Members, ALL four applications were granted.
Treasurers Report.
The society is SOLVENT and at present there is a small surplus balance in our bank account, the report was accepted and the treasurer was complimented on the job he is doing.
Election Of Officials
The officials for the 2015 / 2016 season were elected by way of a ballot of the members present and following the disclosure of the nomination forms that had been completed by all members of the society.

Handicap Format
The format for setting handicaps will remain the same.
Captain`s Challenge
The format and rules for the captains challenge will remain the same.
League Format
There will be nine { 9 } members in Division one and eleven { 11 } members in division two. At the end of each season two { 2 } players will be relegated and two { 2 } players promoted.
Winter Matchplay Draw.
The draw for the winter matchplay competition took place and the details can be found on the society website. There will be three { 3 } groups of Six { 6 } with the top two { 2 } from each group qualifying, the best Two { 2 } 3rd placed will join these six { 6 } to create the eight { 8 } quarter finalists.
Winter League Fixtures
These will be given out at the first two winter league games.—First game is this Sunday at Breightmet 11-00am Tee
Major Competitions for 2016.
Paul Molyneux presented a list of possible venues to the meeting and everyone was agreed that they were of an excellent standard and should be booked , Paul will now book the venues to match the dates of the majors.
A vote of thanks was given to everyone who sponsored a competition in the 2014 / 2015 season
Several members agreed to sponsor the 2016 majors / competitions, these included.
Kevin Jennings, Rob Warburton, Stuart & Steve Surples, John Light, Howard Wadsworth, Mick Lomax { Captain`s Trophy } Brian James { Treasurer`s Trophy.
If any other member is in a position to provide sponsorship, please contact Paul ASAP.
Captain`s Weekend
This will be held on the first weekend in September 2016, the Captain`s preferred venues are in South Cumbria / Lancashire. Paul is looking at the various options available in this area.
March Birthday Bash.
Next year will be “ Strollers “ 70th birthday so to celebrate, the society is having another weekend golfing birthday bash in Southport, the date is the weekend of March 11th 2016 and the cost of the three day event is £270.00 per person, if you would like to go on this very prestigious and enjoyable trip, please contact Paul ASAP. { before next Friday }
Treasurer’s Birthday Bash.
Brian James will be 60 in October & is having a bit of a do in the Gardeners Arms on Saturday 24th October, everyone in the society is invited to indulge in a little drink or 3
