Winter Rules.

The subject of using MATS to play from during Winter conditions was raised, the general rule at golf clubs is that when you are playing your approach shot to the green, { apart from par 3s } you must either use a MAT or play your shot from the first cut of the rough at the side of the fairway.

The problem arises when your ball is only a very short distance from the green { a few feet } do you use an iron to play just a light “ push shot “ onto the green from the fairway without using a mat or do you go to the first cut on the fairway and play a  “ lob shot “ another alternative is to use your putter from the fairway.

One of the rules of the society is “ we must adhere to all rules that are in place at all the golf clubs we are visiting “  but,   sometimes we must use common sense tempered with fairness when we are faced with  situations like this.

A simple short discussion with playing partners should resolve any issues without acrimony, remember, it could be your ball at the next hole !!!!!

Abandoned Matches

A slight change in terminology regarding the recently change in rules about the cancellation of games in adverse conditions, it now reads,

It was decided by ballot that the CAPTAIN, VICE CAPTAIN & ONE COMMITTEE MEMBER would make the decision whether a match is abandoned or goes ahead if adverse conditions set in that makes the  COURSE UNPLAYABLE  after the match has started.

The  Next Meeting is at the Gardeners  on  FEBRUARY 1ST STARTING AT 8-30PM
