ALL YEAR ROUND GOLF
At Davenport you will be playing on one of the driest Courses in the area where you will get the maximum year round golf on fairways and the main greens. When other Courses are closed or very wet we are usually open and playing on well-drained fairways and quick draining sand based greens. Just last month a society transferred to our Course when a local Course was too wet to be open.
CHAMPIONSHIP GREENS
Davenport greens will provide you with a fair challenge as we were early adopters of the Sports Turf Research Institute program that is used for the British Open Championships. In the STRI report just issued to Davenport on 1st October STRI stated that all of the greens sampled were “within tournament target for trueness” and “these are a fantastic set of results considering the wet conditions which have prevailed through much of 2012”.
RELAX
You will be playing at a peaceful location up on Middlewood Road, Poynton, away from main roads, railway lines and the airport. Bobby Jones described Augusta as “agreeably undulating without being too hilly”. In elevation we are like that with a wide variety of holes that will usually give you the opportunity to use every club in your bag.
EAT WELL
When you come to Davenport you will find that customer service and quality are paramount, which is why we employ all of our staff directly under the guidance of our Clubhouse Manager Fraser Weston. Fraser and his team will do their utmost to cater for your dietary requirements and you can order a wide variety of snacks and meals from a tea cake to a fillet steak.
